A Lethbridge animal cruelty investigation is underway after a family reported their outdoor cat shot had been shot in the eye earlier this week.

Sometime during the overnight hours of July 6 and 7, the cat suffered an eye injury.  The owners of the animal took the cat to the vet who determined the injury would require surgery.

During the procedure, the vet located and removed a pellet from the cat’s eye.

On July 9, the Lethbridge Police Service was contacted by the owner and the investigation into the Lethbridge animal cruelty incident began.

The cat lives in the 1600 block of 5A Ave North.  Since the feline is an outdoor cat, the owners are unsure where the cat was injured.

Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to call 403-328-4444 or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477.

The investigation into the Lethbridge animal cruelty case is ongoing.
