Crash near Coaldale involved pickup truck and semi

Pickup truck driver and passenger rushed to hospital following crash near Coaldale on Wednesday afternoon.
One person is dead and a second has been hospitalized following a two-vehicle, head-on crash near Coaldale on Wednesday afternoon.
The collision involving a semi truck and pickup occurred just before 3:30 p.m., on Highway 845.
Cst. Ceron of the Lethbridge RCMP says when emergency personnel arrived, the male driver along with a male passenger of the pickup had to be extricated from the vehicle. They were both rushed to Lethbridge Regional Hospital by ground ambulance. The semi driver was uninjured in the crash near Coaldale.
The driver of the pickup truck later succumbed to his injuries. The name of the victim is not being released at this time.
“The matter is still under investigation, but it appears the pickup truck was southbound when it entered the northbound lane in front of the semi”, says Ceron.
RCMP closed a portion of Highway 845 for a few hours to allow for clean up and investigation.
