Two-vehicle collision near Aldersyde involved minivan and Harley motorcycle

collision near Aldersyde claims life of 30-year old man.

A 30-year old man was killed when the motorcycle he was driving was struck by a minivan on Highway 2, near Aldersyde on Monday evening.

The collision occurred at about 7:30 p.m., at the intersection of Highway 2 and 370 Ave, approximately 1 Km north of Aldersyde.

Cpl. Sharon Franks of the Okotoks RCMP says witnesses reported the eastbound Honda minivan driven by a 48-year old woman crossed into the southbound lanes of Highway 2, into the path of a Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by a 30-year old man.

The biker was unable to avoid the collision with the minivan.  The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene.

RCMP are investigating the collision near Aldersyde and charges are being considered.  Weather, speed and alcohol are not considered to have been factors in the crash.

The name of the victim is not being released at this time.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact the Okotoks RCMP.
