Airdrie drunk driver spotted traveling at 141 Km/hr in a 60 Km/hr zone
Airdrie RCMP have arrested and charged a Calgary man after he was clocked driving 80 Km/hr over the posted speed limit on Sunday evening. The accused also tested positive for impaired driving.
Just before 7:30 p.m., on Sunday, an Airdrie Rural RCMP member spotted a white GMC Terrain speeding on Veterans Blvd, east of Highway 2. The driver was clocked at 141 Km/hr in a 60 Km/hr speed zone.
Cst. J. Curtis of the Airdrie RCMP says the officer was able to pull over the driver, a 43-year old Calgary man, and began an impaired driving investigation.
The Airdrie drunk driver was arrested at the scene and transported to the Airdrie RCMP detachment where he gave police samples of his breath. The breathalyzer showed the driver had a blood alcohol level at more than twice the legal limit.
Curtis says impaired driving and excessive speeding charges are pending against the driver.
